Description

Thelma Duffey, PhD presents this pre-recorded 90 minute webinar. This program will address the role of creativity in counseling (CIC) practice and the means by which growth-fostering relationships can support both client and counselor creativity and resourcefulness. CIC may involve interventions such as music, art, literature, and play, among others, and is grounded in the professional definition of counseling. As a model, CIC involves a shared counseling process leading to growth-promoting shifts in clients’ thoughts, behaviors, and feelings. CIC can be integrated into the spectrum of theories while attending to context, a focus on strengths, culture, and the counseling relationship.

What You Will Learn

Upon successful completion of this activity, you will be able to:

  • Understand the role of CIC practice
  • Articulate the role of growth-fostering relationships (relational-cultural theory) in creative counseling practice
  • Identify ways in which creativity can be used across theories to support counseling goals
