Faculty Bio
Tracy Slemp
Tracy Slemp, DNP, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC; has more than 16 years of experience in higher education and has served in several leadership roles including Advanced Practice Programs Coordinator, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies, Dean School of Nursing and her most recent role as Dean, of Walden’s College of Nursing. Dr. Slemp has experience with initial and continuing program accreditation and has led BSN, MSN, and DNP programs to a successful 10-year decennial CCNE reaccreditation visits as well as initial accreditation of post-graduate APRN programs. Dr. Slemp is an ANCC board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and has been a nurse for more than 30 years with a primary care focus on health, wellness, weight-loss strategies, and obesity management. Dr. Slemp also serves as an expert nurse witness and legal case reviewer. Dr. Slemp has provided community service to a variety of organizations including Children’s Advocacy Center, Salvation Army, Samaritan’s Purse, and has volunteered more than a decade with the Girl Scouts, receiving their Volunteer Award for Outstanding Service.
Christine Frazer
Christine Frazer, PhD, RN; is a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Certified Nurse Educator with nearly four decades of nursing experience and 27 years of experience within academia. As a nurse and Clinical Nurse Specialist, Dr. Frazer has a vast amount of experience working in adult critical care units, neonatal intensive care units, and older adults with dementia. She frequently presents her research and specialization topics at national and state conference and has been an awarded grant money from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) for her research on interdisciplinary learning of quality and safety issues. Currently, Dr. Frazer serves on an Editorial Board for Elsevier journal and recently bestowed designation of Climate for Health Ambassador.
Debra Sullivan
Debra Henline Sullivan, PhD, MSN, RN, CNE, COI; is senior core faculty in nursing at Walden University, College of Nursing, where she teaches evidence-based practice and leadership courses in the MSN program. She is a HITS scholar which is the NLN Healthcare Information and Technology Scholars (HITS) program and a Fellow with the Tennessee Simulation Alliance. Her credentials include the NLN Certified Nurse Educator, Certified Online Instructor, and Certificate Holder in Fundamentals of Magnet®. As a nurse leader, she has participated in promoting nursing and being active in many professional organizations. Currently she is the Immediate Past President of Sigma Theta Tau International, Phi Nu chapter, the State of Tennessee Nurse Foundation Board Treasurer. She presents often at international, national, state, and local nursing professional venues and webinars. She is a prolific author, publishing articles in nursing journals on a regular basis and has authored book chapters. Her current research is a systematic review on nurse burnout, as well as study on the mental health of nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Sullivan resides in Tennessee where she enjoys spending time with her family.
Mary Bemker-Page
Mary Bemker-Page, PhD, PsyS, MSN, MS, BSN; is a recognized scholar and practitioner, a dynamic and forward – thinking nurse educator/administrator, and an individual with a deep commitment to nursing and mental health. In addition to teaching at the university level for over 25 years, Dr. Bemker worked extensively in community mental health with high-risk youths and adolescents. Dr. Bemker started and maintained a counseling and development department for a Fortune 500 Company, and she worked on both an intensive care psychiatric unit and the emergency department in the hospital setting. She has worked 20 plus years in a private practice with specializations in addictions, PTSD and trauma issues, and family dynamics. She co-edited and wrote several chapters in three nursing textbooks. The population health textbook was selected as the 2018 AJN Book of the Year for advanced practice nurses. A fourth nursing textbook focusing on graduate level leadership is in process.
Dr. Bemker is a Quality Matters Peer Reviewer, lead for Disaster Mental Health (American Red Cross Kentuckiana Chapter) and offers Services to the Armed Forces via workshops and community outreach. Presentations on the above topics at professional conferences, community events and via written works are something that Dr. Bemker enjoys. Dr. Bemker is a Henderson Fellow and a Fellow in the American Association of Social Psychiatry. As an administrator, Dr., Bemker has work in community health, education and healthcare administration. She has served on a variety of organization boards and is past president of two Rotary Clubs and a Paul Harris Fellow. Dr. Mary Bemker is core faculty in the MSN Program at Walden University.
Robin Squellati
Robin Squellati, PhD, APRN-C; grew up in California, where she began her nursing career as an Associate Degree Nurse. After earning her Bachelor’s in Nursing, she entered the Air Force, where she spent 28 wonderful years. Five years after joining the Air Force, Robin received a Master’s in Nursing (MSN) Administration from California State University. Five years after receiving an MSN, Robin earned a certificate as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. Finally, Robin decided to teach nursing after her career in the Air Force, so she went back to school to earn a Ph.D. in Nursing Education from Capella University. She has taught at University of Hawaii, Hilo, Chamberlain University, and has been at Walden since 2014. Robin has taught at the DNP and MSN level. She has experience teaching leadership, research, health policy, and foundational MSN courses.
Robin’s favorite areas of nursing are health policy, leadership, and Women's Health. Her last role in the Air Force was Director of Nursing, but over 28 years, she enjoyed several nursing positions, such as Medical Operations Commander, staff nurse for Senator Inouye, Deputy Director of Congressional and Public Affairs for the Air Force Surgeon General, Commander of a hospital in a deployed location, and many types of nursing jobs. Her last civilian position prior to teaching was Medical Management Supervisor for an insurance company, where she oversaw nurses in case management, utilization management, and disease management. On a more personal note, she is married and has two adult sons. She enjoys hiking, travel, running, skiing, swimming, birding, and cooking. Northern Nevada is a perfect area to call home.
