Course Description
In this course, students engage in an in-depth examination of current theory and research associated with major psychological disorders and their diagnoses. Students explore the primary classification systems in terms of their applicability and limitations as well as the factors that impact the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders along a continuum of mental health. Students engage in practical assignments, focusing on applications of the diagnostic criteria in terms of case conceptualization. (Prerequisite(s): COUN 6220.)Applications for each non-degree, credit-bearing, course are reviewed by Walden University’s Admissions Office.
