Description

Laura R. Haddock, PhD presents this pre-recorded 90 minute webinar. Generally recognized for emotional resilience, helping professionals are now facing even more complex mental and physical hardships in the face of COVID-19. Counseling professionals experience emotional exhaustion, which may lead to clinical errors, lack of empathy in treating clients, lower productivity, and higher turnover rates. Counselors, educators, and supervisors need to learn to both recognize signs of these hardships and learn to implement strategies to avoid poor outcomes, burnout, and compassion fatigue. Participants will self-assess current levels of stress and be introduced to strategies for promoting wellness and self-care among helping professionals.

What You Will Learn

Upon successful completion of this activity, you will be able to:

  • Self-assess stress and gain an increased understanding of our bodies’ physical and neurologic reactions to these stressors
  • Name and recognize one or more signs of hardship that impact personal and professional wellness
  • Select and implement one or more strategies to promote wellness and self-care in both personal and professional roles
