Nurse leaders are on the front line of the healthcare environment. As the role of nurses and nurse leaders continues to change, it has become more essential for nurse leaders to understand the basics of budgets within organizations. Nurse leaders will gain an awareness of the operating and capital budgeting processes used in healthcare organizations, key factors related to operating budgets, and performance indicators in the management of an operating budget.
