  • Why Practice Self-Care and Self-Compassion?

Why is the practice of self-care and self-compassion important for helping professionals? In fact, professional ethical standards in counseling establish principles for professional wellness. This first lesson reviews these ethical standards, some key terms you will need to know, and offers a pre-assessment to get you started.

  • Explore: Life with and Without Self-Care

What are the consequences of self-care? This lesson explores the negative consequences of avoiding this responsibility as well as the positive consequences of embracing it.

  • Clinical Internal Self-Care Dialogue

This lesson takes a deeper look at how counseling others can take a toll on our clinical identity, specifically our internal dialogue about much needed self-care.

  • Creating Conditions for Self-Care

To increase resilience and posttraumatic growth, counselors ensure physical, emotional, cognitive, and interpersonal balance and continual self-examination to ensure these components are present and actively balanced. Self-care in all areas of wellness is an optimal way to create balance!
