In a classroom setting, everything we do teaches—some things more than others. Teachers communicate the values of the class, the school, and the community every time they step in front of a class. But there is a need to be intentional about how we teach. Understanding social-emotional learning (SEL) can help teachers better address the social and emotional needs of all learners and create the conditions for a dynamic learning environment that promotes mastery of learning in all areas.
Most teachers feel there is not time for even one more “innovation” in their curriculum. This micro-course shows how SEL creates space for more learning and is not just another curriculum add-on.
