Description
Many clients who struggle with substance use or addictive behavior disorders have complex trauma in their life stories. Research has demonstrated that adverse experiences impact a person's physiological, psychological, social, and emotional growth and development. Treating substance use or addictive behavior disorders requires an understanding of the biological, environmental, and social antecedents that make a person vulnerable to these disorders.
The Principles of Addiction Learning Path will explore the significance of a holistic approach to treatment that considers vulnerability factors and a continuum of care. It will also explore client-centered and integrative treatment approaches allowing for the concurrent treatment of all disorders to create the best possible outcome.
